Last night, I had a long conversation with my sister about a post we both chanced on Facebook. It seems the word ‘RESPECT’ is out of people’s dictionaries, which brought me to this topic: “MUTUAL RESPECT IN RELATIONSHIPS”.
The foundation of every healthy relationship is MUTUAL RESPECT. Many relationships we see these days have lost this gesture by the wayside.
We are different individuals with different beliefs and values. Different upbringing and backgrounds but once we have decided to have our lives together, tolerance is the key.
For a relationship to last for the long term or forever, RESPECT is one of the gestures which significantly impact the relationship. Learning to respect each other is the gateway to a long – lasting relationship.
We all need some kind of serious romance, not necessarily sex. However, a state of complete tolerance. Lust and desire may simmer or die down, but respect and tolerance will keep the relationship.
Learn to respect your partner. It cost nothing to be humble and respectful. Using hurtful words and demeaning jabs on your partner go a long way to harm them. Learn to be kind in your comments, even if you are right.
In heated argument or brutal moments, keep your partner in mind, express your thoughts in love. They maybe entirely wrong, but you wouldn’t be exactly right either. Be polite in your actions, calm down and understand each other and sort out your differences.
In relationship, arguments are typical but how you handle them determines the maturity of both partners.
We agree to disagree but with the right amount of respect, you can bridge gaps and sail through the choppy waters.
Build your emotional intelligence and capacity for understanding. You may have different views, opinions but you should reach a mutual concession. Maturity is listening to what each other has to say and not just waiting for your turn to speak. When speaking, speak calmly, openly and honestly. come to a common ground and accept each others standards. If you have to incorporate both of your views and desires, create new versions for peace to rule.
Relationship is about, love, sacrifice, respect and tolerance. If these ingredients erode, the relationship will come to a grinding halt.
